Tosca
12/04/2025 / Teatre Casino L'Aliança del Poblenou
Tosca shows us the best features of Puccini’s composition and its ability to show every moment what is needed, and to become unique in reference to the singers’ vocal and stage brilliance. It is considered one of the most representative operas of the Italian verista repertoire (realistic and naturalist style) of the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, due to its dramatic intensity, with brilliantly shocking scenes such as the “Te Deum” of the Mixed Choir and the Baron Scarpia at the end of the first act, and to own some of the most beautiful and exciting arias in the repertoire, such as “Vissi d’arte” by the female protagonist Floria Tosca, from the second act, or “e lucevan le stelle” from male protagonist Mario Cavaradossi, in the third and last act of the play. The plot combines love, intrigue, violence, passion and death. Together with Madama Butterfly and La Bohème, it forms the trio of Puccini’s most famous operas.
The play has more than 70 artists on stage!
